Being A Job Seeker.....
At the age of 52 I find myself a statistic. Never wanted to be a statistic, but here I am. The man on the six o'clock news says I'm not the only one, but it sure feels like I am, they say unemployment is at 8.2%, highest it's been in a long time. The thing that gets me is the hope factor, there just doesn't seem to be any hope right now. Neither of the people running for President seem to be saying anything that will give us "statistics" any hope. And we need hope! Change didn't seem to work so I say we take a mulligan, and go back to plan "A" at least I had a job then!

Unpaid Vacations!
Being the age I am you would think I would get use to the construction worker way of life, but alas it seems I have not! I have worked in construction since I was 17 years old and it has always been feast or famine. Election years are sometimes better for my kind but not this year, the country may be to far gone to recover, the Government is throwing the money in the wrong direction. Instead of pouring the money into infrastructure they sent it somewhere else. Oh well no since in crying about it I'll just be sure and VOTE!

Dads get a backbone!
This Average Man is also a Baptist Preacher so I am sadden today when I minster at a rural Baptist Church and hear people say "We had some families leave because they wanted something for their kids to do." Really? At what point in society did young (ages 12-18) people become the decider of where the family unit went to church? Have the Dads lost the backbone to tell a kid to sit down and listen to the Preacher? Have we went so far as to let them dictate how we worship also? Come on Dads man-up! When you get to Heaven the Lord will ask you why you left the Church He sent you to to be saved and you're going to tell Him "my kids needed something to do." Really?

Rainy Days
Since I've been 17 I've worked mostly outside, so rainy days affect me in a different way than most. I do not get the blues like most people do while it's raining, I look at a rainy day with anticipation they are the days of no limitations. They are the days when I was a younger man that I could bum around with others, but now I look forward to spending the day with the dogs.

Average Man thinking out loud...
So a storm is passing over head as I write this blog, which got me to thinking out loud about that old saying dogs draw lighting.... I believe two old men was sitting on a porch somewhere in time past as a dog was waking across the yard just as a bolt of lighting struck the dog. So the old men say "wow dogs draw lighting!" Well it could of happen that way. See y'all next time!
Father's Day!
So with Father's Day coming you may ask what does the average man want? Well this one thing is for sure you can get a Dad things you could never get a Mom, like socks, underwear, or even soap! Yes soap, my children thought it would be a gag gift to get this average man soap one year for Christmas, but little did they know that the average man did not care what the gift was then or now, it is the fact that they thought enough of me to give me a gift. So don't hold back this year get your Dad something he can use.

Now I'm a Blogger!
Now that I have started this blog, I will be posting my thoughts on all sorts of opinions, I know they are my opinions but I believe I am an average man and my opinions should count for something somewhere. Hope you like them.
